DNS Root Server TCP/UDP Performance
The map below shows a comparison of response times for DNS SOA queries to all the DNS root servers.
For each probe, a marker shows the RTT to the server when using TCP and UDP. When comparing TCP to UDP, the marker shows the performance difference between the two protocols as a ratio of TCP to UDP (which, in general, is expected to be 2-3). It is possible to filter by protocol (IPv4, IPv6, or both) and by ASN.
